It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through January 2024!

We want to update everyone on weather-related events. Throughout the weekend I communicated with Superintendents in the area as well as officials from the City of Austin, Travis County, ACC and the University of Texas. At these meetings, we receive a briefing from the National Weather Service. Our goal is to align our response so that all students and staff are safe and we provide services to those in need.

In an effort to be as transparent as possible, we’ve added information to our website about inclement weather protocols so our community can understand how we make these decisions. I appreciate our ��Ƭapp team working to ensure we provide a safe environment for all our students. I also want to thank everyone for their flexibility and recognizing that these delayed start days are not typical, and we appreciate everyone working to ensure we have a safe learning environment for our kids.

This month gives us the opportunity to recognize the important work of our trustees. The theme of this year’s School Board Recognition Month is “Locally Elected, Community Connected,” and this is definitely true for our trustees.

Where I’ll be and who I’ll meet

Tuesday, January 16
My day starts by checking in with our Operations team to get a status update on our campuses. I’ll then meet with my team to address any critical items from the weekend and our Special Education Quality Assurance team to see where we are with our TEA Agreed Order. If you saw last week’s Board Meeting, we discussed the level of planning and checking that goes into ensuring we remain compliant with the order. You can always check out our board meetings on our website. My afternoon includes a meeting with Trustee Kauffman, and then I’ll meet with my Senior Staff for our standing Monday Meeting. In the evening, I’ll attend the District Advisory Committee meeting. From there, I’ll head to the E3 Alliance Board of Directors meeting.

Wednesday, January 17
On Wednesday I’ll meet with my team to prepare for our upcoming community forums then I’ll head to the Holdsworth Center to join my fellow Superintendents in learning and collaboration.

Thursday, January 18
I’ll spend the day at Holdsworth Center, and in the evening, I’ll attend the , where I will be available to answer questions and hear from the community.

Friday, January 19
I’ll head to the last day at the Holdsworth Center before heading to a meeting with the City of Austin about our plan for parking at Austin High School. The day will end with a 1:1 with Trustee Gonzalez.

Saturday, January 20
On Saturday, we’ll host another Lone Finalist Community Meeting at . This event will be a hybrid model — so head on over to Marshall or . I look forward to continuing to engage with our great community!

El mensaje semanal de Matias

¡Feliz Año Nuevo! ¡Es difícil creer que ya estamos a mitad de enero de 2024!

Queremos poner a todos al corriente de los acontecimientos relacionados con el mal tiempo. Durante todo el fin de semana me comuniqué con los superintendentes de la zona, así como con funcionarios de la ciudad de Austin, el condado de Travis, ACC y la Universidad de Texas. En estas reuniones recibimos información del Servicio Meteorológico Nacional. Nuestro objetivo es alinear nuestra intervención para que todos los estudiantes y personal estén a salvo y proporcionemos servicios a quienes los necesiten.

En un esfuerzo por ser lo más transparentes posible, hemos añadido información a nuestro sitio web sobre los protocolos de inclemencias del tiempo para que nuestra comunidad pueda entender cómo tomamos estas decisiones.

Agradezco que nuestro equipo del ��Ƭapp trabaje para garantizar que proveamos un ambiente seguro para todos nuestros estudiantes. También quiero agradecerles a todos por su flexibilidad y por reconocer que estos días con comienzos tarde no son típicos, y agradecemos que todos trabajen para garantizar que tengamos un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro para nuestros niños.

Este mes nos brinda la oportunidad de reconocer la importante labor de nuestros miembros de la mesa directiva. El tema del Mes de Reconocimiento de la Mesa Directiva Escolar de este año es "Elegidos localmente, conectados con la comunidad", y esto es definitivamente cierto para nuestros miembros de la mesa directiva.

Dónde estaré y con quién me reuniré

Martes, 16 de enero
Empiezo mi día reuniéndome con el equipo de Operaciones para conocer la situación de nuestras escuelas. Luego me reuniré con mi equipo para abordar cualquier tema crítico del fin de semana y con nuestro equipo de Garantía de Calidad de Educación Especial para ver dónde estamos con nuestra Orden Acordada de la TEA. Si usted vio la reunión de la mesa directiva de la semana pasada, discutimos el nivel de planificación y control que se necesita para asegurar que seguimos cumpliendo con la orden. Siempre puede revisar nuestras reuniones de la mesa directiva en nuestro sitio web. Mi tarde incluye una reunión con el miembro de la mesa directiva Kauffman, y luego me reuniré con mi personal de alto rango para nuestra reunión regular de los lunes. Por la noche, asistiré a la reunión del Comité Consultivo del Distrito. Desde allí, me dirigiré a la reunión de la Junta Directiva de E3 Alliance.

Miércoles, 17 de enero
El miércoles me reuniré con mi equipo para preparar nuestros próximos foros comunitarios y luego me dirigiré al Centro Holdsworth para unirme a mis colegas superintendentes en el aprendizaje y la colaboración.

Jueves, 18 de enero
Pasaré el día en el Holdsworth Center y, por la tarde, asistiré a la, donde estaré disponible para responder preguntas y escuchar a la comunidad.

Viernes, 19 de enero
Me dirigiré al último día en el Centro Holdsworth antes de ir a una reunión con la Ciudad de Austin sobre nuestro plan para el estacionamiento en la Preparatoria Austin. El día terminará con una reunión individual con el miembro de la mesa directiva González.

Sábado, 20 de enero
El sábado celebraremos otra Reunión Comunitaria sobre el Único Finalista en la. Este evento será un modelo híbrido - así que diríjase a Marshall o participe en Zoom. ¡Espero seguir interactuando con nuestra gran comunidad!
